Salt spreader wiring harness quality and performance just took a huge leap forward with the introduction of the "
Rhino" brand by Karrier Company. Every "
Rhino" wiring harness is encased in a heavy duty PET monofilament expandable sleeving and comes with tough wire insulation that provides nearly 50% higher thermal capacity than standard automotive GPT wire. It is also extremely chemical resistant.
World Class connectors are incorporated to provide low electrical resistance and high corrossion resistance and require little or no maintenance.
Since water, salt and dirt don't mix well with electricity, the connectors used at the bumper are military grade IP67 sealed connectors with wire and terminal seals to keep water, dirt and chemicals away from the silver plated contacts. Every Rhino harness comes with connector caps to maintain the IP67 seal when the spreader is disconnected. We strongly recommends that you do not use dielectric grease on the sealed connectors.
Each "Rhino" model is a three part harness system that includes:
- Power harness from the battery to the motor controller
- Chassis harness from the controller to the vehicle bumper
- Spreader harness from the vehicle bumper to the spreader motor(s)

Omega" salt spreader motor controllers, so your spreader gets more voltage and the control features of the Omega to perform better than when it was brand new.

- For apples to apples results use the actual length and gauge of each segment in your existing harness and 13.6 VDC from the battery. Then for single stage spreaders (Rhino 1030-04) use 25 amps at each harness segment, for two stage spreaders (Rhino 2070-06) use 62 amps to the controller, 30 amps to the material feed motor, 20 amps to the spinner motor and 12 amps to the vibrator. These may not be the actual amps your spreader uses at each segment, but it's what we used to calculate the voltage, listed below, your motor will see with a Rhino harness.
Rhino Results:
- Rhino 1030-04 voltage at the spinner motor is 11.8
- Rhino 2070-06 voltage at the spinner motor is 11.9 and at the auger motor is 11.5
